Inspired by this scene in the tea garden in Portland, Oregon, I found this quote from Thich Nhat Hanh in his book, No Mud, No Lotus: The Art of Transforming Suffering, "Most people are afraid of suffering. But suffering is a kind of mud to help the lotus flower of happiness grow. There can be no lotus flower without the mud." I need the reminder that happiness is simple even if it's not easy. I hope this piece with a painterly appearance can be that reminder for you.
